  Emergency Management

A safe room or underground shelter is the best place to be during severe weather. But

what happens if a storm leaves debris and you are unable to escape your safe place? In

response to community concerns, the City of Ponca City has initiated a program to

ensure your safety after the storm has passed.

Ponca City Emergency Management is in the process of compiling a list of all storm

shelters in the City. Both underground shelters and safe rooms will be included on the

list. Residents are asked to complete the registration form available at City Hall and

submit the information to have their shelter location placed on the master list. Should a

damaging storm occur, in locations where damage is apparent and calls permitting,

officers will confirm that no shelter exits are blocked. Individuals interested in this

program should complete the registration form. For more information, contact Paula

Cain, Ponca City Emergency Management, at 767-0380.

Emergency Management

Emergency Management is responsible for disaster preparedness; public safety communications; safety and training methods; and maintaining cooperative relationships with City departments, City officials, federal and state agencies and the general public. Emergency Management is operated out of the Emergency Operations Center, which is housed in the Public Safety Center. The center is used to centralize the direction, coordination and control of response and support elements during and after a disaster. Emergency Management is a division of the Police Department.
