Library Advisory Board

Doris Stanley -
has been a member of the Board since June 2006. Her term will expire in June 2009. She lives in Ponca City. She has two children, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Doris has served on many volunteer boards such as Daubers (PC Art Association), past president of Art Association, a member of DAR in Ponca City as well as previous terms on the Library Board. She was an instructor of drawing and pottery at NOC.

Mrs. Jay G. (Lorraine) Murrison -
has been a member of the Library Board since June 2005. Her term will expire in May 2008. A long time Conoco employee, she joined Vista Chemical Company upon its formation in l984 and retired in l989. She has two daughters and sons-in-law and four grandchildren. Lorraine is an avid reader and enjoys the companionship of her Miniature Schnauzer, Roxie.

Chris Littlecook
has been a member of the Board since May 2007. He is currently President of the Board. His term expires in May 2010. He is a Ponca City native, moved back to town in 1996 after serving 18 years at Conoco in Houston, Texas. Since his return, he has been active in the community, as is his wife Melinda. They have four sons, two still in the school system for which Chris and Melinda work.


Mr. Glenn (Bud) Sloan - 
moved to Ponca City in 2003 from Panama City, Florida. He earned a BA and MA from the University of South Florida in English and education, respectively. Before retiring in 1999 after thirty years, he worked as a secondary teacher, later as a school counselor and a for a short period of time as a mental health counselor. During his life, he also had several jobs during the summer breaks and between semesters at college, some being, a shoe salesman, a produce packing- house truck loader, a recreational employee, a roofer, a county roadside grass mower, and a non-profit shrimper. With his wife, Carole, they have made a second career making Nantucket Lightship Baskets, which are marketed at art galleries and art and craft shows in the East, South and Midewestern US. They currently teach basket making at the Ponca City Art Center as well.

Patricia Paterson - has been a member of the Board since June 2006. She is currently Vice-President of the Board. Her term will expire in June 2009. Patricia is vice-president of the Board. She is Managing Partner of Tres Hermanas Wool Works, LLC, located in downtown Ponca City. A long-time computer geek and award-winning fiber artist, Patricia learned her love of libraries from her mother, a voracious reader. Her earliest memories include accompanying her mother and sister to the library in her home town of W. Hartford, CT, and returning home with piles of books. Her reading interests include mysteries, sci-fi/fantasy, crafts, and politics. Patricia is thrilled to be able to share her passion for books with others through her participation on the Ponca City Library Board.

Judy Jones -
has been a member of the Board since August 2006. Her term expires in August 2009. She is a Library Media Specialist for Union Elementary School. She has been a school librarian for approximately 20 years and taught 2nd and 4th grades almost 15 years before working in the library. She has lived in Ponca City 32 years, is active in the First United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma and Kay County Choral Arts Society.


Meetings held the 2nd Tuesday at 12:00 noon in Library Board Room.
