Citizen Participation at Meetings

The public is invited to attend all City Commission meetings. Anyone may speak to the council on items not included on the current aganda during the public comment portion of the Commission meetings. Comments should be relevant to City business and every effort should be made to verify the truthfulness of any factual statements. Ponca City is a City of Character, and as such, truthfulness is defined as "earning future trust by accurately reporting past facts." As provided by law, the City Commission shall make no decision or consideration of action of citizen's comments, except to refer the matter to the City Manager for administrative consideration, or to schedule the matter for Commission consideration at a later date. Speakers are asked to come to the microphone, give their name and address and are asked to limit their comments to five minutes. The City Commission also conducts public hearings on specific ordinances prior to the final passage of those ordinances. If an item is scheduled for public hearing, citizens are asked to speak during that public hearing time.
